Why can't things be simple?

No I mean it, really. Why not?

Why is it that if you start on what should be a simple project it becomes this all consuming vortex of time?

Why? Because there are no simple projects...save perhaps bodily functions....which we don not consciously control.
Good thing too, else we'd screw that up too.
